Clare farmer on trial over Bunratty tourist death

A 58 year old Cratloe man has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of an elderly German tourist in Bunratty two years ago.

The trial of John Boyce of Moyhill opened at Ennis Circuit Court yesterday.

83 year old Inge Schmidt died after being struck by a tractor while walking across a pedestrian crossing at Low Road Bunratty on October 29th 2010.

Eyewitness and tourguide Gerard Ryan has told the court  he saw the tractor strike the elderly tourist as she crossed the pedestrian crossing to enter the Bunratty Folk Park adjacent to Bunratty Castle.
