The State Examination Commission has adopted recommendations from the Ombudsman for Children to broaden access to the RACE scheme, which aims to assist students with particular needs to engage with the exam process.
In 2015, the ombudsman received 49 individual complaints from Clare, many of which were related to access to education supports.
Director of Investigations with Children's Ombudsman Office Nuala Ward hopes the improvements to RACE scheme will lower that number.
