Clare’s population continues to grow, according to new figures from the CSO.
The third quarter of 2012 showed a rise in the number of deaths, and a fall in the number of births when compared to the same period in the previous year.
430 births were registered to Clare mothers between July and September last year.
There were two more boys were born to girls, and nearly a third of these children were born to unmarried mothers, although this rate is lower than the national average.
The average age of mothers is 32-and-a-half years old, with first time mothers 2 years younger.
The Central Statistics Office Vital Statistics Release also shows 165 deaths were recorded in the county during the same three month time frame, with 89 of these males.
Unusually, cancers overtook heart-related issues as the most common cause of death during this quarter.
