Two of Clare's General Election say more needs to be done to tackle rural crime in the County.
Michael McDonagh and Noeleen Moran have been outlining the justice measures they're committed to persuing if their respective parties are elected to government.
Crime has been one of the dominant issues in this election campaign, particularly in the light of two high-profile gangland shootings in Dublin earlier this month.
However, people living in rural areas have long been expressing concerns that cuts to garda resourcing have left them vulnerable to criminals.
Following a spate of high profile buglaries last year, the outgoing government established Operation Thor in an effort to tackle the issue.
However Fianna Fail candidate, and former Garda, Michael McDonagh claims the Government's crime strategy has not worked.
He says the closure of nine rural Garda stations in the county was a regressive step and he's committed to re-opening them if elected to governement.
Sinn Fein's Noeleen Moran says she is also committed to increased Garda presence in Co. Clare
There has been criticism of the party from some quarters over their plans to abolish the Special Criminal Court, saying they oppose non-jury trials.
However, Noeleen Moran she's acutely aware of the fear of crime in communities around the county.
She says her party will hire 3000 new Garda if in power to try and tackle this.
