Clare’s General Election candidates who’ve put their posters up already have been told to take them down.

Already a number of Clare candidates have been spotted up the poles, but with no election date named and the Dáil still to be dissolved, Clare County Council, as well as Ennis and Kilrush Town Councils are warning fines will be imposed if the rules are broken.

Local Independent candidates Jim Connolly from Kilbaha and James Breen from Kilnamona have now been given time to take their posters down or they’ll face a 150 euro fine per poster.

Betty Devanney of Clare County Council’s environment section is keen to stress that the election still hasn’t been officially called
