Clare Drivers Receive Most Penalty Points

Clare motorists are the most likely in Ireland to receive penalty points.

Nearly 21,000 penalty points have been handed out to the county’s 74,000 motorists since 2011, an average of 0.28 points each.

This is the highest rate of anywhere in Ireland, with Clare coming in just ahead of Longford, Kildare and Wicklow.

Drivers in Donegal, which had the lowest rate, were half as likely to receive points as those here in the Banner County.
