Clare Dole Queues Grow Despite Irish Emergence From Recession

Ireland has fully emerged from the recession according to Goodbody’s.

In its latest quarterly Health Check on the Irish economy its predicting we’ll reach full employment by the end of next year.

By late 2018 unemployment is expected to fall to five per cent and we may need to rely on immigrant labour to meet the demands of growth in construction and consumer spending.

The company says however Brexit-related migrant flows have the potential to ease pressures by adding to our labour force.

But despite the good news, the CSO has reported a second straight month of growing dole queues in Clare.

An additional 52 people signed on across the county last month, but the numbers suggest that tourism providers have been able to hire a good number of staff this year, as Clare FM’s James Mulhall reports:
