Clare’s County Dog Warden says the service is overwhelmed by the number of dogs being surrended this month.
The owners of 17 dogs have contacted the dog shelter with a view to re-homing their pet over the coming weeks.

Frankie Coote says they’ve been appealing to owners to try to hold onto the animals for longer, to allow sufficient time for alternative arrangements to be put in place for the high numbers presenting.
He says in cases where dog owners have no option but to surrender their pet, the best option is to contact one of the local rescues.
