A Clare developer is making fresh calls for the government to provide adequate financial supports for builders taking on apprentices.
It comes as the moratorium on no fault evictions is set to end this week, after a Sinn Fein motion calling for an extension to the ban was defeated last night, just hours after the coalition comfortably survived a confidence vote.
Concern has been raised over the housing supply shortage, despite Government plans to build an average of 30,000 homes per year until the end of the decade.
10,000 apprentices are due to be recruited every year until 2025 in order to streamline the process, but Ciarán Breen of Ciarán Breen Construction believes the financial risk of taking on an apprentice currently outweighs the reward.
