Clare Dementia Advisor Says Home Care Services Are ‘Not Acceptable’

A Clare Dementia Advisor says the reality of home care services for people with declining cognitive abilities is ‘not acceptable.’

It follows the publicntion of a new report from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, which found a third of people living with dementia say they’re unable to access the services they need.

The Experience of Dementia in Ireland: A Snapshot In Time report also found that just 20% of those living with the neurological condition were able to access all of the services they need.

Clare Dementia Advisor from the ASI, Fiona Staunton, says it can be very difficult for people with dementia that live alone.
