The Founder of Pieta House says statistics showing the number of people taking their lives, don't reflect reality.
Joan Freeman is speaking following the launch of this year's Darkness Into Light at the Templegate Hotel In Ennis, which will see thousands of people walk a 5 kilometre route as dawn breaks on May 7th.
Now in it's tenth year, the fundraiser will see walks taking place in Ennis, Shannon, Miltown Malbay and Killaloe/Ballina as well as many other areas across the country
Pieta House offers one to one councilling to people who are suicidal or in distress or who engage in self-harm.
Founder Joan Freeman says the number of people contacting the service is growing every day which she believes it's an indication that people are losing the fear to seek help:
