Clare cyclist recovers after accident

A Clare  cyclist who suffered serious head injuries after coming off his bik during the Tour de Burren at the weekend is expected to make a full recovery.

Martin Clancy from Kilmaley – fractured his skull in 17 places and also injured his neck during the incident near Fanore on Saturday when he crashed into a wall.

He was airlifted to hospital in Cork where he underwent neurosurgry and had a metal plate inserted into his head and now begins a 12 week recovery period.
