Clare County Dog Warden Warns Public Not To Handle Dead Swans As Bird Flu Detected In Ireland

The Clare County Dog Warden is urging the public not to handle dead swans after bird flu was detected amongst a flock of turkeys in Monaghan.

Dog Warden Frankie Coote says he’s received a number of calls in relation to swans found near lakes and on beaches in the county, but is advising people to follow the Department of Agriculture’s advice when it comes to preventing the spread of the disease.

Restrictions have been put in place around a county Monaghan turkey farm after some of the 3,000 strong flock tested positive for the H5N1 avian flu infection.
