Clare County Dog Warden Warns Pets Accessing Motorway Pose Serious Accident Risk

Clare’s County Dog Warden is urging pet owners to prevent animals from accessing motorways and bypasses.

It follows an incident on the M18 last week between Ennis and Limerick, where a collie ran onto the dual carriageway in broad daylight, but thankfully avoided injury.

County Dog Warden Frankie Coote says with vehicles travelling at high speeds, there’s a real risk of serious or fatal accidents, as drivers may swerve to avoid animals.

He says anyone living near busy roads should make sure their pets can’t get onto them.
