Clare’s County Dog Warden is urging pet owners to prevent animals from accessing motorways and bypasses.
It follows an incident on the M18 last week between Ennis and Limerick, where a collie ran onto the dual carriageway in broad daylight, but thankfully avoided injury.

County Dog Warden Frankie Coote says with vehicles travelling at high speeds, there’s a real risk of serious or fatal accidents, as drivers may swerve to avoid animals.
He says anyone living near busy roads should make sure their pets can’t get onto them.
