Clare County Councillors are to hold a meeting next week on plans to sell land near Illaunumanagh Cemetery in Shannon for the purposes of building a crematorium.

Local representatives had already given the go-ahead to selling the 1.3 acre site in question, but plans to construct a crematorium there have been met with resistance from some local residents.
They held a public meeting last week, and tonight sees another gathering at the Oakwood Arms Hotel, this time organised by Sinn Fein Councillor and supporter of the project Mike McKee.
