Govt Called On To Provide More Roads Funding For Clare

The Government is being called on to provide more funding to Clare County Council to improve conditions on minor and secondary roads in the county.

Local authority roads funding has seen significant cuts since 2008, and poor weather conditions in recent years has compacted issues on many routes in all corners of the county.

Last year 26.5 million euro was allocated to the local autority for local and regional roads, with 23.5 million provided in 2018.

But Sixmilebridge Independent Councllor PJ Ryan says it simply doesn’t go far enough, and he’s calling on Clare’s four TDs to play their part in securing more funding.
