Council To ‘Review’ Possiblity Of Community Wealth Model For Clare

The local authority says it is examining the possibility of allowing local businesses to be prioritised when bidding for contracts to supply local authority services.

The Community Wealth Building model if applied could see Clare businesses positively discriminated against when it comes to the awarding of Clare County Council tenders and other contracts.

The matter was discussed at April’s monthly meeting of representatives, where the local authority was told a similar model has worked in areas such as Preston in the UK and Cleveland in the US.
