Clare County Council says it will begin a public consultation process for Ennis’ mobility plan ‘shortly’, amid fresh calls for a permanent pedestrianisation model in the town.

Local representatives have put forward proposals to attempt to satisfy the majority of business owners and members of the public on the issue, which caused some controversy when the model was implemented temporarily due to the pandemic.

While the local authority says full pedestrianisation was never intended to be permanent in Ennis, a public consultation process on the matter is expected to begin in the near future.
