Clare’s newest Councillor will take up his seat this afternoon.

Pat O’Gorman, from Cratloe, is to be officially co-opted onto Clare County Council as the newest local representative in the county today.

The former Mayor of Clare was elected at a selection convention last night to replace Meelick’s Cathal Crowe, who was elevated to the Dáil at this month’s general election.

A special meeting of Clare County Council is being held this afternoon, when the decision will be officially ratified by the local authority and ahead of that Pat O’Gorman has outlined his aims.
