Clare’s sole Green Party Councillor is calling on the local authority to extend full time lifeguard cover at the county’s busiest beaches for the month of June.
The initiative was implemented at Fanore, Lahinch, Spanish Point and Kilkee beaches last year with only weekend cover for that month utilised previously.
Clare County Council says the move will be ‘contingent’ on lifeguard’s availability and say it’s ‘premature’ to commit to it at this time.
