Clare County Council has been accused of being “averse” to implementing sensible traffic calming measures around new housing developments.

It comes as a new housing development has been commenced adjacent to Tulla National School, while a social housing development has recently been opened on the Doonane Road in the East Clare Village.

With many locals reportedly fearful of potential road accidents owing to insufficent traffic calming measures in the vicinity, Maghera Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes has called for a full review of traffic management in the region of Tulla National School and the Gort Road.
