Calls have been made for the West Clare Municipal District area to be designated a rent pressure zone by the Residential Tenancies Board.
This week’s meeting of West Clare Councillors has heard concerns raised that rents in the area are approaching unsustainable levels, along with a prolonged lack of long term rental supply.
It’s estimated there are around 250 active Air BnB listings in the West of the county, which earn on average over €1,400 per month.
