Clare County Council is being called on to implement a dedicated traffic management plan to facilitate the high volume of motorists navigating rural roads en route to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher.
At this month’s meeting of the West Clare Municipal District, Councillor Joe Killeen has raised concern over the need to redirect heavy traffic from unregulated local roads into nearby towns and villages.
In response, the local authority has confirmed that directional signage will be erected at strategic locations along the route, with a view to establishing a traffic plan in due course.
Corofin Fianna Fáil Councillor Kileen, who’s Leas Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District, believes the measure will have major economic and road safety benefits.
