Clare County Council is set to explore the integration of the Burren and the Cliffs Of Moher into the West Clare Greenway.
The iconic landmarks attracted just below 2 million visitors last year, however the proposed trail will not intersect either site.
The matter was raised by Fine Gael’s Joe Garrihy at this month’s meeting of the Municipal District in a bid to maximise the spending output of tourists flocking to the area.
In response, the local authority comitted to liasing with Transport Infrastructure Ireland to examine the development.
Lisdoonvarna Councillor, Garrihy believes there is a real opportunity to increase and prolong footfall in more towns and villages in the region.
