A former Mayor of Ennis claims the county town has been embarrassed by the recent deterioration of a prominent sports and recreational facility.
So far this year 82,000 people have entered Lees Road John O’Sullivan Park in Ennis, with 4,200 vehicles and 400 pedestrians arriving on a weekly basis.
However recent maintenance issues at the site has seen both national and provincial athletic tournaments diverted elsewhere.
Clare County Council has now applied for a €250,000 government sports capital grant to rectify the matter and Ballybeg Fianna Fáil Councillor Clare Colleran-Molloy says this can’t come soon enough.
