Clare County Council has rejected an application to close roads in North Clare to allow for a triathlon later this month.

19 people had objected to the request from Challenge Ireland, organisers of the Challenge Galway 2016 Triathlon which has been set to take place on Sunday June 26th.
The Council says the application has not been approved as it did not contain sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the event organisers had adequately consulted with the public.
Concerns had been raised by businesspeople in the Burren that closing roads there would be damaging on a busy tourist weekend.
