Clare County Council has confirmed it’s received approximately 100 applications for its Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant which was launched last year.
The grant allows individuals to acquire grant funding for the renovation of a vacant or derelict building and the scheme has recently been been widened to cater for different circumstances.
An additional 20,000 euro is now available to those refurbishing vacant and derelict buildings, properties built as late as 2007 are now eligible for the grant and the grant now applies to rental properties in addition to principal private residences.
Clare County Council’s Vacant Homes Officer Anne Marie Kelleher says that interest has been expressed in the grant for properties in towns and villages as well as in rural areas.
