Clare County Council will seek further information before making a decision on a Wastewater Treatment Plant for Kilkee.

Uisce Eireann intends to construct the facility on a 456 hectare site at Foohagh which is bound by residential dwellings to the north, south and east and a mobile park to the west.

The application received 86 public submissions, which mainly highlighted concerns over the potential for emanating odours that may impact the health and safety of visitors to the popular Kilkee Cliff Walk , just one kilometre away.

One such submission suggested that the site of a disused quarry just 2km further on the Dunlicky Road, would be a more suitable location for a treatment plant in Kilkee.

A decision on the case was due this week, however Clare County Council has now requested further information from Uisce Eireann surrounding the proposals.
