Clare County Council has given its support to businessman Peter Casey to run in the upcoming presidential election.
The businessman received the backing of seven members, after being nominated by Independent Ennis councillor Ann Norton – 18 councillors abstained from voting while nobody opposed the nomination.

It’s his second nomination of the day after also getting the backing of Kerry Council.
He needs two more to get on the ballot paper and will visit Limerick and Tipperary councils tomorrow.
