A book on the history of local politics in Clare is being produced to mark the 450th anniversary of the foundation of the county this year.
In the year 1570, former King of Thomond Murrough O’Brien declared Clare a county and also predesignated it from Connacht to Munster.

To mark the occasion, for the first time, a history of local governance in the county from those days up to the modern county council is being published this year.
