Clare County Council has issued a prior warning notice for bathers at Kilkee Beach.
The local authority is advising the public of an expected increase in bacteria levels in the water due to diffuse pollution as a result of heavy rainfall.

To reduce the risk of illness, beach users are urged to avoid swallowing or splasing water, to wash hands before handling food, avoid swimming with an open cut or wound and for those who are or pregnant or with a weakened immune system to avoid entering the water.
The HSE has been informed of the situation and the notice is expected to remain in place until Tuesday, July 18th.
