Clare County Council has been honoured for it's promotion of water safety.

It's beaten off stiff competition from local authorities across the country to win the Charles Thomson Award.
The council has been commended for its work in 2015, including the completion of new lifeguard, training and public facilities at Whitestrand, Miltown Malbay and the securing of a record number of International Blue Flags.
The allocation of funding to local community search and rescue organisations has also been noted, as well as the introduction of new signage.
