Clare County Council gave planning permission for a total of 277 housing developments in 2025, paving the way for 459 homes.

Of the applications given the green light, 268 were for one-off dwellings which was the county’s highest figure since 2022.

When it came to multi-development houses, just nine such projects were granted approval which was down from 17 in 2024 and was the lowest number since records began in 2018.

Additionally, planning was granted for 39 apartment developments, making 2025 the best year for apartments in Clare since records began.

Looking at the national picture, Clare County Council granted the sixth-highest number of permissions last year, with only Cork, Donegal, Galway, Wexford and Mayo awarding more.
