Clare County Council emitted 12 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide on international flights last year.
A parliamentary question by Sinn Féin TD Eoin Ó’Broin has revealed the county council was one of just three local authorities to make payments to the Climate Action Fund for air travel last year.

Clare County Council had to pay over €715 for its flights, almost double the €370 paid by Tipperary County Council, while Dublin City Council had to fork out over €3,200.
In total, state agencies paid €366,660 to the Climate Action Fund for air travel in 2024.
