Clare County Council has raised concerns with the government about the cost of taking control of some of the county’s housing estates.

The local authority has received applications from developers and residents to take in charge 31 Clare estates, meaning it would take control of the infrastructure and public areas associated with the development
Nine of these estates are in North Clare, with eight in and around Ennis. Seven more are in the Shannon electoral area, with four in East Clare and the remainder in the West of the county.
The Council says it does not have the resources to to take on the liabilities that arises on these estates, and has raised it’s concerns with the Department of Environment, Community & Local Government.
