Clare County Council is assuring the public that it has sufficient salt supplies to treat the county’s roads during the cold snap.
Seasonal weather conditions have arrived late, but the wintry conditions are set to worsen this week, with hail sleet and snow forecast for many areas.

There’s currently almost 3,000 tonnes of rock salt in the local authority’s stocks, enough for 49 applications on the county’s roads, and further stocks can be drawn down from the TII and the Department of Transport in emergency situations.
