The Chair of the Clare County Board has described as “disgraceful” the way in which Clare GAA supporters were handled by stewards following the banner’s win over Wexford last Saturday.
A number of fans were forcibly removed from the pitch at Pairc Ui Choimh after the Senior Hurling Championship quarter final clash, on account of breaking rules prohibiting fans from entering the pitch.
Some of those have told Clare FM they feel they were manhandled and say there’s evidence of bruises on their body.
Clare County Board Chair, Joe Cooney was unaware of the policy on the day, but says there was an announcement made at half time.
Despite this, he believes the actions of stewards wasn’t good enough:
