A South East Councillor claims an upcoming fuel price hike will put excessive pressure on businesses in this county if it isn’t parked.
From the 31st of October, the cost of petrol is expected to go up by eight cent, while the cost of diesel will increase by six cent, and green diesel will rise by three cent.
This will come just two months after an excise duty increase which saw the cost of petrol go up by seven cent and diesel by 5 cent.
Sixmilebridge Fianna Fáil Councillor Alan O’Callaghan raised the matter at last evening’s meeting of the local authority, ahead of Budget 2024, and he argues the upcoming rise should be scrapped, to relieve some of the strain on motorists and businesses.
