Clare County Councillors are calling on the new Minister for the Diaspora to put pressure on the American Government to allow the undocumented Irish who are in the US to return home in the case of family tragedy.
The authority is backing calls for the creation of a humanitarian visa – in the case of sickness or bereavements.

It's estimated 2,000 Clare natives are amongst the 12 million illegal residents of the United States with approximately 20,000 family members here in the county.
