Clare County Council has called for the coalition to ease restrictions on the Community Employment Scheme, to allow people take part for longer.

Participants are paid twenty euro per week on top of their social welfare payments in return for work with local organisations, but can take part for a maximum period of 12 months.
The Council though want this to be extended to three years, in a move which they say will benefit both the people concerned and communities throughout the country.
