Clare Councillors Call for Clarity on Property Tax Reduction Reports

The government is being urged to clarify how much funding it will give to Clare County Council for 2015, so that Councillors can determine if they'll be able to offer a cut in the local property tax.

Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin has indicated that around a dozen counties could have a surplus in funding next year, allowing them to reduce the property tax charge.

The Irish Independent, meanwhile, reports that Clare will be amongst the areas where this will occur but there is no confirmation that this will be the case.

Councillors here have already begun the process of drawing up their budget for 2015, but Fianna Fáil's Richard Nagle says they still don't have the full picture.
