Clare Councillors call for access to funding for private roads

Clare County Council has called for the re-instatement of a government scheme which helped pay for works on private roads.

The Local Improvement Scheme provides funding for works to be carried out on a range of roads which are typically used to gain access to private lands, paid for by landowners and the Council.

This year, Clare County Council was given permission to use up to 460,000 euro of a Discretionary Grant to fund its portion of these works, but local representatives have called for a specific allocation in this area instead.
