Clare Councillor Resigns From Ennis 2040 Board Over Data Centre Objections

A Clare Fine Gael Councillor has resigned from the board of the Ennis 2040 DAC due to his objection to a data centre in the town.

Ennis Councillor Johnny Flynn has stepped down from the board having submitted an appeal to An Bord Pleanála against Clare County Council’s granting of planning permission for Art Data Centres to build on the Tulla Road.

Among his objections are the reliance on gas for fuel, air quality concerns, potential flooding and road safety risks as well as a possible strain on the electricity grid.

Councillor Flynn says he could no longer stay on the board due to the central role the data centre plays in the Ennis 2040 plan.
