Clare Councillor Claims Dept Of Education Failing Special Needs Students

The Manager of Clare Crusaders claims guidelines are urgently needed in schools to ensure that special needs students that may display aggressive tendencies are dealt with appropriately.

It follows a new Inclusion Ireland survey, which found that 35% of disabled children endured seclusion in education settings last year, while 27% suffered restraint.

Among the issues reported by parents were their children being locked in rooms alone, sensory rooms being used inappropriately, and children being held against their will.
