Just over 6 and a half thousand euro was spent by Clare County Council to cover the costs of trips abroad for St. Patrick's Day.

Cathaoirleach James Breen and Council Chief Executive Tom Coughlan representated the council in New York and attended a number of events with a view to boosting the county's tourism and business profile.
They also attended the Ireland U.S. Council St. Patrick’s lunch, where the Clare delegation spoke with George Mitchell and invited him to attend Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis this August.
Independent Councillor Breen believes the benefits of such trips far outweigh the cost.
