Commencement Notices are issued to building control authorites when a person is intending to carry out works or change the use of a property.

In total, 58 such notices were issued to Clare County Council in May, indicating a strong surge in housing activity in the county.

Over 33% of the orders delivered to the local authority during this timeframe were for one off builds.

Notably, the figures show Clare is set to see more residential development in the coming months than Cork City, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary , South Dublin & the constituency of Dun-Laoghaire- Rathdown.

Approximately 208 commencement notices have been served here from January to May, meaning construction in Clare is running two months ahead of the progress achieved in 2022.
