Concern has been raised in Clare over the planned establishment of a vacant homes website.
Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy has announced a number of measures to bring vacant homes back into use as part of efforts to tackle what he calls a ‘serious crisis for the country’.
It includes encouraging elderly people living in nursing homes to rent out their property, fines for people who fail to bring vacant houses back into use and a website where people can anonymously log suspected vacant properties.
There are over 6,000 empty homes in Clare, excluding holiday homes and Former Green Party Councillor with Clare County Council, Brian Meaney says moves to log these on a website is a slight on local representatives.
