Clare Companies Call For Further Government Investment

Clare business representatives are calling for further investment from the government, to help create sustainable jobs in the county.

Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin claims the 2 and a quarter billion jobs stimulus package will create 13,000 construction jobs, but critics of the plan say very few of the positions will be long-term.

Locally, business representatives have welcomed the stimulus package, most notably plans to link Clare with Galway city via an extension of the M18 Motorway.

Lahinch Businessman and Irish Hotels Federation President Michael Vaughan says other mesaures are needed to create long term employment in Clare.
