Clare communites have been honoured for the upkeep of local housing estates and green areas.
The Clare in Bloom competition recognises efforts by local groups to enhance the visual impact of their towns and villages by means of flower, tree and shrub planting schemes.
This years overall winner was the Tuamgraney Development Association – while among the many other winners were the Tidy Towns Committees in Kilrush, Kildysart and Bridgetown and the Mayor’s Environmental Award went to Ballynacally Development Association.
26 local authority residents associations were honoured in the Best Kept Local Authority Estate Competition meanwhile, – 1st prize for estates with up to 30 houses went to St Josephs Road, Ballyvaughan. 1st prize for estates with up to 50 houses went to Millstream, Killaloe, while the overall award and 1st prize for estates with over 51 houses went to Cappa Lodge, Sixmilebridge.
