Clare Climate Activist Says People Have No Choice But To Drive Despite Rising Cost Of Fuel

A Clare Environmental Network member believes using public transport in rural Ireland instead of the car as a “gamble” amid rising costs of fuel.

According to new figures from the AA, average petrol and diesel prices reached 170.3 cents and 160.5 cents per litre respectively this month, which is a 26.6% and a 23.7% increase compared to February 2020.

Lisdoonvarna based climate activist, Theresa O’ Donohoe, says despite this rise in fuel prices, people in rural Clare don’t have an option but to use their cars.
